Ronald Schneider
Ron is a seasoned amateur photographer living in Gardiner, NY. His interest in photography began more than 60 years ago. His early photos were taken with his dad's Kodak 4x4 camera. By the time he was a teen, he had progressed through the Polaroid instant-photo era and into 35mm photography, spending his "life savings" to buy an F-series Nikon in the 1970s. After carrying camera bodies and lenses for many years, Ron began experimenting with cellphone cameras and digital darkroom software more than 25 years ago. His experimenting led him to using digital filters, layering with filters, masking and digital painting. His goal is to manipulate images via digital darkroom processing until they speak a new language to him.
Ron's current favorite camera/lens combo is his dated SONY Alpha A7R-II, mirrorless, full frame camera and a trustworthy, all-purpose Tamron 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 lens. His favorite subjects are people, nature photography and landscapes.
As a serious amateur Ron sells his photos. However, because Ron does not rely on photography for income, he chooses to sell his work in exchange for people donating to any children's charity of their choice.
How serious is he as an amateur? Ron's most viewed travel photo on Google Maps has received over 990,000 views. His travel photos can also be seen on Iceland Images and many other travel sites. His best guess is that his photos have received 5-10 million views online, perhaps more.
